MISSION STATEMENT:

 The Berrien County Council for Children is dedicated to shaping a community that shields children from abuse and neglect.


   
 

OUR GOALS:
v Raise community awareness of the effects and consequences of child abuse and neglect on our society.

v Promote and provide educational opportunities to enhance community knowledge of child abuse and neglect prevention methods.

v Network with community leaders for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in our county.

 vReduce the trauma of the investigation of child sexual abuse and to compassionately meet the needs of sexually abused children through the Children's Assessment Center (CAC) of Berrien County.

  
 

The Berrien County Council for Children believes that all children have the inalienable right to:

v Be kept safe.

 v Be raised in a nurturing environment.

 v Be shielded from conflict between divorcing or separated parents.

v Be educated about the dangers of child abuse and neglect and about the services available to protect them.

 v A child-friendly approach to the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse and neglect.  

v Be provided with cohesive follow up services following abuse and neglect regardless of their ability to pay.
