Nationwide Effort
The Children's Assessment Center of Berrien County is part of a nationwide effort to reduce the trauma of child sexual abuse so that children are not re-victimized by the systems designed to protect them. In 2010, 466 children received services from the Children’s Assessment Center for suspicion of abuse.
National statistics tell us that one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18. Children are most often sexually abused by someone they know and trust, and they often don't report the abuse right away for fear of being blamed or "not believed." The Children's Assessment Center (CAC) is a safe, neutral place for these children to come for interviews and assistance by specially-trained investigative professionals. This child-focused approach is widely recognized as the best and most effective way of handling child abuse investigations.
The Berrien County Council for Children website utilizes PayPal for secure online donations. We currently offer one-time or monthly options for donating to our cause.
